Why are some wooden toys so expensive?
One of our favorite toy manufacturers is BeginAgain based in Fort Collins, Colorado. They focus on the use of plant based materials in all their products. This company truly reflects the old adage: You get what you pay for.
"We use non-toxic, water based wood stains that are verified child safe by independent laboratories. Our stains and finishes are tested to USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand standards. In addition, stains do not chip like paint can, which maintains the beauty of the toys for years to come".
We carry a complete line of BeginAgain toys. They are expensive. However, when you consider the materials used, the quality manufacturing, and the long life-expectancy, BeginAgain is a value-based product.
Are your prices inflated like other areas?
All of our prices are based on the Manufacturer recommendations.
How important are those "recommended ages" on the boxes?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has developed guidelines for age grading of toys and related products. Most toy manufacturers use these guidelines in labeling toys and games for age-appropriateness.
However, it is important to remember that these are government guidelines and are not really related to child development standards. It is important to be aware of the age recommendations and any possible safety concerns but you also want toys that will inspire and challenge your child.
